Pickles

If pressed, i would settle for 'sandwiches' and 'lunchtime'
This was going to be the editorial cartoon for the upcoming issue of The Inquirer, but it was deemed not topical enough and something else was chosen.

Yay!

Have i been lazy with my comics lately? Possibly a little. Possibly a lot.

Walter

So? The cow's drawing comics. What of it? I'm sure i don't know what you're getting at.

200

Sometimes i think to myself, maybe comics isn't for me. Maybe i should go try something else, like jet-skiing or beekeeping or something. And other times i think, man, but an indoor job with no heavy lifting - that's the dream, isn't it?

Father's Day

Full disclosure: you really can't expect much out of me for Monday comics. I've had work, I've had hang out time, I'm tired and sloppy and I've had two days off instead of just one. This may be the best you can hope for.

Superman Saves the Day

No. No it won't.

So for anyone that actually followed the Superman movies very closely, you may notice a semi-continuity error. Specifically, if you watched the movies as they came out in theaters, Superman doesn't turn back time at the end of Superman II to erase Lois's memory, he does it at the end of Superman after Lois dies and he wants to bring her back to life.

Except, in truth, it was written that he did it at the end of Superman II to fix all of the things that Zod destroyed and, as a nice byproduct, Lois's memory of the fact that Clark Kent was Superman was erased in the process. However, in a bizarre production layout, the makers of the films shot Superman and Superman II simultaneously, and somewhere along the way somebody decided that the time travel thing would be a cooler ending for Superman than for its sequel. As a result the backwards planet spin was detached from the second movie and stuck on to the first one, and instead of Superman accidentally erasing Lois Lane's memory as a result of fixing other, bigger, problems, he makes a specific point of super-powering the memories out of her, which turned out to be unwittingly creepy.

In later released versions of the movies they fix the ending of the Superman II so that the time travel bit is applied correctly - most likely because it makes the end of Superman II a whole lot less date rape-ey - and it is one of these alternate cuts that was my first experience with Superman II, and it's what i've always considered to be the "right" version.

So yeah. That's a long way of explaining why Superman is thinking about erasing Lois Lane's memory instead of bringing her back to life, in case that threw you for a loop.

Novelty Paintings

I can do better. Please don't stop reading my webcomic.

Full disclosure: i had to do some work on a different USB device last night, and when i sat down to do comics today i just did not have the energy to crawl under my desk and spend five minutes in the dark and the dust trying to untangle cables and get my tablet reconnected.

The entire time Bamboo Stalk Number Three is mumbling quiet apologies for its dickish friends.

Ant Farm

In truth, it only gives me the serious willies when I'm going to the bathroom. That's when I can't stop thinking, 'Glass walls? Really glass walls?'

In which i experiment with a new sport.

Other times i think i should just learn how to throw a frisbee straight

Sorry about the hand-written text-heavy comic. I didn't realize that i'd never transferred over my Blubber Buddies font until i'd already started. Oh well. Time to go spend an afternoon remaking a font...

No comics possibly for awhile

Fucked up my computer in a 2006 reenactment. Clearly for me it's death by water. We'll see how the old girl does after she dries out.

Not Actually a Comic

Ben Folds is coming back to play at the Warfield in San Francisco in May. Tickets go on sale tomorrow. Just wondering if anybody was interested in joining me.

Heels

The internet has decided to grace me with a veritable cornucopia of spambots, so until further notice we're on moderated comments.

Not that it really matters, as Rowyn appears to be the only one commenting anyways.

Piggy Bank

I probably could have tried harder on this one. Art-wise, anyways.

I talked to a dude who said it may be that the drivers have been corrupted. Apparently it's a problem that WACOM has. So here's hoping that that's it.

TFU - The Trouble With Pants

Initially this was going to be several panels longer and actually use the phrase "potty dance", but i decided, in the end, that, as with violence and pick-up lines, the implied punchline is usually the better one.

TFU - This week's episode: The Trouble with College Girls

This realization dawned on me a few weeks ago when i met quite a nice girl and discovered that she was a half a decade too young for me. And i don't even mean like if she were five years older she'd be okay, i mean if she were five years older she would just be missing the cutoff for being acceptably aged.

God i'm old.

Oh yeah, postscript - i'm doing comics again.
