TFU - This week's episode: The Trouble with College Girls

This realization dawned on me a few weeks ago when i met quite a nice girl and discovered that she was a half a decade too young for me. And i don't even mean like if she were five years older she'd be okay, i mean if she were five years older she would just be missing the cutoff for being acceptably aged.

God i'm old.

Oh yeah, postscript - i'm doing comics again.

What's the cutoff? I dated someone 10 years older than I am, which means that when he was starting college I was in elementary school...

Mmm... i mean i don't know. I don't really judge other people in relationships with large age gaps - my own parents have something of a large age gap between them - but for myself, ever since i got flack from people for dating Yukiko because she was like a year younger than me (which i guess is large amount in high school?) i've been extra-sensitive to the ages of the people i'm interested in.

I also think the acceptability of the width of the gap expands as the people involved get older.

Like right now i'm not at all comfortable with the idea of me dating an 18 year old, but i think when i'm 35 i'd be okay with dating a 28 year old. It's all about proportions, i guess.

If n is your age, and g is the youngest acceptable dating age, I've heard it's:

.5n + 7 = g

By your math (five years from the cutoff), this girl must be 14... in which case, I'm going to have to agree with imaginary Rica.
