We now return you to your originally scheduled, ever so classy, daily webcomic
So, true believers, let me tell you what i learned about myself this week: i discovered that without concrete deadlines, regardless of how much time i give myself - say, two whole weeks - if there's nothing to keep me focused, i'll spend the whole span of time on video games and television and not get diddly done, leaving it to the day i get back to finish one comic, making the whole time-off-to-stock-up-on-comics idea a total bust.
I suppose i chalk this one up in the "win" column, anyways, for having a relatively repercussion-free debacle in which i learned a valuable lesson in my own unreliability, even to myself.

Quick Sabbatical
So i've been pretty displeased with myself for awhile, the way that i barely get every comic out every night. I feel like they're not as funny and they're not as good because i'm rushing every night, and i really don't like how at least once a week i have to throw up filler or miss a day. So i've decided that i'm going to take this week off, see if i can build myself a nice cushion of comics, and try and stay about a week ahead of myself from now on so that things don't stay sloppy like this. Seeing as i have a readership of... well, robin, right now, i doubt this really matters. But still, i'd like to see myself taking this as seriously as possible, so i feel it's probably a good idea anyways. I'd been thinking of doing it for awhile now, but i'm starting a job this weekend, and even though it's not much (twelve hours for one day a week), considering that this would probably have thrown a couple of comics off anyways, i figure this is a good time to do this.
Okay. See you in a week. Scott out.

True Stories from MQ Production, part III.
So the story behind this is that when i was doing that staff photo drawing that i posted awhile ago, Drew jokingly told me to make Nicole sadder, as i had already drawn her apparently not looking very pleased (i didn't see it, but everybody else did). Anyways, half an hour of dicking around later, this is what emerged. This one is very true to life. Keep that in mind, possible future MQ copyeditors.

True Stories from MQ Production, part II.
Hey, check it out guys, i almost went an entire week without some sort of filler. Woo? Oh well. Sadly i frittered away all my time this evening going to see Kung-fu Panda. It was okay. Not bad. Not great. Tell you what, i wouldn't tell you not to see it, but i wouldn't tell you to go out of your way to see it either.
It's been awhile, but order of people present at this one: Brendan, either Tim or Mohhamed - i draw them pretty similarly, and though that looks more like how i draw Mohhamed, i'm not sure - Drew, and myself. Oh, and then the dead hooker at the bottom.

So We'll Go No More A Roaming
I was having a bad day already, so when i read a friend's blog post about parting friendships, losses, and the inexhorable movement of everyone away from everyone - which was gently beautiful and deeply thoughtful but also rather depressing - i was not in the mood for making the ha-ha, as you kids call it these days. Re-found this poem yesterday when i was misunderstanding Ayano's request for a quote for taiko's end-of-the-year video.
Apologies for the spartan art. There was going to be colored backgrounds but photoshop started twigging out on me, so this is what you get.

Two Poets and a Physicist, part I.
Couple of things. First, this week we are attempting something new here at Blubber Buddies Comics Corporation; that's right, a serialized storyline! Maybe! If i have the attention span.
Secondly, loosely related, this storyline is out of the annals of a series i came up with last year when i was thinking of putting together an actual real webcomic. The basic premise was that William Shakespeare, Albert Einstein, and Edger Allen Poe lived together in San Diego downtown apartment. I played with it for a little while, but i never really ran with it because the best gags had little to do with them being the people they were. That is to say, it really could have been any group of roommates and there would have been little value added to it, save for the sort of "superficial" comedy of ridiculous things happening to historical people. Additionally, i never really got comfortable with Poe's character, and as time went on and i played with it more he phased out almost completely and it became more of a buddy gag-a-day between Einstein and Shakespeare, and except for the funny accents i attempted to impose, was little different than Rob and Elliot. Except generally not as humorous.
Nevertheless, i still enjoy the characters, so seeing as i'm not making an entire webcomic about them, and they are, instead, simply a convenient pair to do a quick story with, here you have them.
